Do-it-yourself website design or hire a professional?

If you do-it-yourself there are lot's website development software options on the market. Generic Website is being developed using FrontPage 2003.

I decided to keep this simple, as most of the content on generic website is, well, generic information about website design and development. There is no need for Generic Website to have a database driven website.

Website Database Design

One time I had websites developed by a professional website designer who specialized in website database development. My site was selling stock photographs from around the world.

This was an ecommerce site which enabled the customer to choose low resolution pictures and put them into a shopping cart. After payment was made via a secure credit card transaction, the buyer was automatically provided a link to download the high resolution photographs.

The professional web development was the only way for me to meet the requirements for the site design needed for the thousands of royalty-free stock photographs.

Keywords

When designing your website for maximum impact, carefully consider the landing page (homepage). This will be the entry point for most of your visitors. The keywords on all your pages are important, but the keywords for your landing page are critical. Take the time and energy to do it right and improve it over time.

There are a lot of companies in the business of website design! So this means, like everything internet related, there are lots of options online to learn about and connect with website designers (a phrase which produces two and a half million results on Google!).
